The Diamond certification and actions that make us represent a clean industry

Searching for forms of production that are environmentally responsible, socially fair, and economically viable is much more than becoming a sustainable company, but also a differential for an increasingly competitive market. Therefore, adopting practices and technologies that optimize the production processes is essential, turning the business into a clean and efficient industry, which directly contributes to mitigating impacts to the environment.

Courovale is a company that fully represents what it means to be a clean industry. Since 2021, we are a tannery with Diamond Certification in the Leather Sustainability Certification (CSCB), but we will not stop there. We continue to implement processes that seek improvements when it comes to sustainability. Check it out!

We represent a clean industry

When applied within the tanning segment, a clean industry is one that adopts measures such as the use of clean technologies, effluent treatment, use of products with less environmental impact, reuse of waste, and reduction in the consumption of natural resources.

Because of this, the Centre for the Brazilian Tanning Industry (CICB) created the CSCB in 2015, in partnership with Apex-Brasil. The goal is to reward through a certification the tanneries that meet the criteria and sustainability indicators. The audits are carried out by Inmetro, which classifies the companies into four categories:

  • Bronze – when they meet at least 50% of the indicators;
  • Silver – when they meet 75% of the indicators;
  • Gold – with at least 90% of the indicators;
  • Diamond – when the tannery meets 100% of the indicators.

In June, 2021, we were the first tannery in Brazil to receive the Diamond certification, which attests our full responsibility with sustainable development, meeting all the criteria required by CICB.

Zero waste policy

But it doesn’t stop there. We keep looking for alternatives to implement an increasingly sustainable production in our production routine. Our latest step was to put into practice a zero waste policy for landfills, finding a more appropriate destination for residues.

In an interview with one of the main information vehicles of the segment, Leather Biz, the commercial manager of Courovale, Veronica Meurer, highlighted the recognition that the certification gives to the company. “Customers ask about sustainability all the time and we want to be able to tell them that we represent a clean industry. And our CSCB certification helps us with that.”

This way, Courovale positions itself as a company that fully represents the concept of clean industry, by developing and applying solutions towards sustainable development. Visit our social networks to see the latest collections and contact us to learn more!
